Millena was a Dimir agent who ran afoul of Nicol Bolas and broke into the Aerie of the Firemind.

Description

Millena was a young woman and a thought-stealer agent of House Dimir, agile and physically capable, evident from her ability to climb the exterior of Nivix and execute precise movements to avoid various magical traps. Her attire included black clothing and gloves.

Millena's core traits were largely overshadowed by the presence controlling her mind. Originally a Dimir thoughtstealer, she was skilled and resourceful, capable of using advanced magical devices and techniques to accomplish her mission. However, her true self was suppressed by the slithering, scaled presence that took over her will, reducing her to a puppet carrying out his plans.

History

Millena's mission from Nicol Bolas was to infiltrate the Aerie at the top of Nivix, where she successfully bypassed numerous wards and traps set by the Izzet League. Her goal was not to steal but to implant a thought into Niv-Mizzet, the ancient dragon and guildmaster of the Izzet League. This thought was the construction of the Interplanar Beacon, which would lure planeswalkers to Ravnica to feed their sparks to Nicol Bolas. After accomplishing this, the presence controlling her mind refused to release her, instead leading her into a trap that left her frozen in place by a stasis spell, effectively sacrificing her to trigger an alarm. Niv-Mizzet awoke with Millena's inserted thought in his mind, unaware of its origins.[1]

Millena's unfortunate fate was sealed as Nicol Bolas tore through her memories, leaving her mind in shambles. When the spell activated, it alerted Niv-Mizzet and the guards, resulting in Millena being trapped and the presence that controlled her slipping away. Ral Zarek, upon his return to Nivix, discovered her imprisoned and learned from Niv-Mizzet that she was a pawn in a larger scheme orchestrated by the dragon and Nicol Bolas, revealing the Dimir's involvement and the complex machinations at play. [1]

Lazav later made efforts to extract Millena from Niv-Mizzet's claws, but it is unknown if he managed this or what ultimately happened to Millena. Either way, with her mind destroyed by Bolas, it can be assumed that Millena did not live long after her release from statis.[2]
