- For other uses, see Undercity.
As the city of Ravnica was built higher and higher, the lower regions fell to the darker guilds and became known as The Undercity.[1] During New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse, parts of the Undercity were raised to the plane's surface.[2]
Description
The Rakdos mining has changed the center of the mountain into a giant column.[3] During the Phyrexian Invasion, a large portion of the undercity was lifted above ground by the branches of the Invasion Tree, exposing subterranean layers to open air for the first time in centuries.[4][5][2] The exposure of underground flora and fauna to sunlight in the "Risen Undercity" has led to the evolution of new species or plant subspecies as they adapt to this new light — there are varieties of plants never before seen and still being discovered.
