Edge of Eternities is the 106th Magic expansion and was released on August 1, 2025.[2][3] Unlike most sets, the setting is not a plane but rather a region of outer space covering the multiverse called the Edge. It is inspired by space opera and is intended to be science fantasy.[4][5][6]
Product details

Edge of Eternities contains 276 regular cards (81 commons, 100 uncommons, 60 rares, 20 mythic rares, 15 basic lands), and includes randomly inserted traditional foil versions of all cards.[7] Edge of Eternities is available in Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, two Commander decks, and the Edge of Eternities Bundle. Starting with this set, the art cards are moved from the Play Booster to the Collector Booster.[7]
The regular set includes full-art "Celestial" basic lands (#262-266). Alternate card frames have a different card number than the original version. Borderless "viewport lands" are 277-286. Borderless "Triumphant" cards (featuring some of the most noteworthy faces of the set in a heroic pose) are #287-~302, and borderless "Surreal Space" cards are #~303-316. Extended art cards are #317-356. Japan Showcase cards in traditional foil are #357-366. Galaxy foil basic lands are #367-371. Galaxy foil "Viewport lands" are #372-381. The headliner is #382. Fracture foils are #383-392. Promo cards are #393-399.
Bonus sheet
Edge of Eternities features a bonus sheet of 45 land cards with the set code EOS. These can be found in Play Boosters, with alternate and foil versions in Collector Boosters.[8]
Headliner
The Headliner for this set is Sothera, the Supervoid.[9][7] The textless singularity foil version of this card[10] can be found only in Collector Boosters. This version of the card is extremely rare, appearing in a low number of Collector Boosters of any language and always in English. Sothera, the Supervoid also appears in the main set at Mythic Rare and as 1 of 10 Japan Showcase cards.
Special Guests
Edge of Eternities features 10 Special Guests in Science Fiction magazine card frame (SPG #119-128).[7] These may be found in Play Boosters and may be played in Limited games. Starting with this set, the mythic expansion symbol is omitted. The rarity can only be deduced from the M in the Information below the text box.

Themes and mechanics
"Lands matter" is a major theme of Edge of Eternities, with Landfall being more present and thus found on 12 cards.[14][15] "Artifacts matter" is another major theme. Sacrifice is a minor theme.[14]
Station is a new keyword ability found on Spacecraft artifacts and a cycle of Planet lands.[16][17] This allows its controller to tap creatures (including ones that came under their control this turn) to put charge counters equal to the creatures' power onto the card as a sorcery, "stationing" the card. After reaching a certain threshold of charge counters, the card gains extra abilities, sometimes permanently becoming a creature with a specific power and toughness. A single card can have multiple thresholds and thus can gain more than one set of abilities and/or stats.
Warp is an alternate cost for permanents, usually creatures. It offers a faster way to get permanents out, but they are exiled at the beginning of the next end step; however, they can be cast on a later turn from exile. When a spell is cast by paying its warp cost, it means it has been "warped". Since warped permanents are temporary, they usually have enters or leaves the battlefield abilities, strong static abilities, haste, and/or efficiently large sizes for its Warp cost which is ideal for stationing cards.
Void is a new ability word for abilities that trigger if a nonland permanent has left the battlefield or a spell has been warped this turn, i.e., a spell has been cast for its warp cost. These include alternative or additional effects on instants and sorceries, and triggered abilities on permanents. Void abilities trigger irrespective of who controls the nonland permanent, who warped the spell, whether or not the spell resolves, or whatever happens to that permanent after it leaves or to that spell after it is warped. Since they represent Monoists' entropic magic, they are mostly found on black cards.
The set also introduces another variant of Devour with Devour land on Famished Worldsire.
Card subtypes
As mentioned above, Spacecraft is a new artifact type and Planet is a new nonbasic land type. Both can be stationed in this set.
Tying the main themes of the set together ("artifacts matter", "lands matter", and sacrifice), the set introduces a new predefined token type: Lander token. It is a colorless artifact token with ",
, Sacrifice this artifact: Search your library for a basic land card, put it onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle."
Another new artifact token is called Munitions, found only on Weapons Manufacturing.
Edge of Eternities features 5 factions each with their own creature types.[18] Summists () include the Astelli Angels. The Illvoi Bloom (
) include Illvoi Jellyfish. Monoists (
) include the Susurian Vampires. The Kavaronic Federal Empire (
) include Kavu. The Eumidians (
) include Insects. Humans are mainly found as Summists and Monoists, but are also in all colors as Pinnacle socients.
A new creature type introduced in the Edge is Drix, an ancient alien race that guards against Eldrazi, which also appear in the set nearly ten years after their last appearance in a premier set (Eldritch Moon).
Lobster becomes an eternal-legal creature type. Scientist is used for the first time in-universe. There are also classic Magic creatures depicted in a sci-fi aesthetic, such as Dragons, Lhurgoyf, and Sliver tokens.[19][20][21]
Counter types
Charge counters are used for the Station ability. Poison counters make a cameo reappearance on one card, Virulent Silencer.

Rules change
Starting with this set, Legendary Spacecraft and Legendary Vehicles with a power and toughness box became eligible to be played as your Commander.[23][24][25]
Storyline
The set marks the beginning of the third and final story arc of the Metronome storyline. It is, however, "relatively disconnected" from the ongoing storyline.[26] It introduces the Edge, at the edge of the known Multiverse, bordering the Blind Eternities.[27] Harness the advanced technology of the Sothera system as forces vie for cosmic power, and discover what lies at the heart of this turbulent galaxy.[3] Chart a course through Sothera and explore distant planets, wield dazzling magic, and wage war with alien factions. Just steer clear of the unstable supervoid at the center of the system — unless you choose to harness the vast chaotic energies within! Tezzeret is featured in the story.[19]
The cards that represent the Story Spotlights in Edge of Eternities are:
None of these cards are at all related to the actual content of the story save Temporal Intervention and The Seriema. The reason for this is unknown.
Magic Story
Of note, the Magic Story for Edge of Eternities takes a minor choose-your-own-adventure approach, hinting at the nature of the narrator.

Edge of Eternities was first teased during the August 2023 Announcement Day panel at Gen Con Indiana.[2] It was marketed as a "space" set within the science fantasy genre.[6] A similar environment was earlier explored in Unfinity.[14]
