Andrew Brown is a former pro Magic player, and the current Game Design Architect for Magic: The Gathering at Wizards of the Coast.
Professional play
As a player, Andrew is best known for being one of four players to make two Pro Tour Top 8s (at Pro Tour Oath of the Gatewatch and Pro Tour Eldritch Moon) in the 2015–2016 season. He also has a Grand Prix win in Denver during 2015.
Wizards of the Coast
In October 2016, he was hired by Wizards of the Coast as a design contractor. In May 2017, he became a full-time part of the Play Design team.[1][2][3] Andrew currently is the technical lead for the Play Design and FFL teams and often joins Set Design teams late in the process to help shepherd them through the final stages of Limited and Constructed playtesting. According to Mark Rosewater, he is an excellent problem-solver and adept at designing cards that fill in gaps for both Limited archetypes and Constructed environments.[4] As Game Design Architect since February 2024, he focuses on content health through game balance.
