Marvel Super Heroes (stylized Magic: The Gathering® | Marvel Super Heroes) is an upcoming Magic: The Gathering expansion in the Universes Beyond series. The set features many different characters from Marvel Comics. It is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026.[2][3]
Background
| “ | Players... Assemble | ” |
Marvel Super Heroes is the second major release after Marvel's Spider-Man in a series of products created for Magic: The Gathering by Hasbro (Wizards of the Coast) in collaboration with Marvel Entertainment. The set features many Marvel Comics heroes and villains. The Avengers feature prominently, but not exclusively; other heroes include the Fantastic Four, S.H.I.E.L.D., Heroes for Hire, and several "Avenger-adjacent" characters. It is notably based on the original comics and not on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.[1] The X-Men as a team are not present in the set but individual characters with associations to the Avengers have not been excluded.[4]
Product suite
Marvel Super Heroes is sold in Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, and four Commander decks.[3]
Commander decks
Four preconstructed Commander decks will be released alongside the main set.

Through the Omenpaths
Marvel sets do not release on the digital platforms Magic Online and Magic: The Gathering Arena.[5] Instead, a mechanically identical set re-themed with Magic in-universe creative treatments, art, and card names will be released under the banner of Through the Omenpaths. The cards are legal in all formats that would otherwise have used Marvel Super Heroes but do not have any physical copies printed at the time of their release.
Set codes

The Standard-legal Marvel Super Heroes set uses the set code MHS, while the Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks use MSC and are legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage. The Marvel bonus sheet cards reprise the set code MAR from Marvel's Spider-Man. Reprints in all sets are remain legal to use in any format where another version of that card was already legal. All cards opened in Marvel Super Heroes Play Boosters, both MSH and MAR, are legal in Draft and Sealed.[3]
Tokens
Marvel Super Heroes includes the following tokens:
0/4 Wall creature with defender for Super-Skrull.
1/1 Merfolk creature for Namor the Sub-Mariner.
Galactus, a 16/16 legendary Elder Alien creature with flying, trample, and "Whenever Galactus attacks, destroy target land." for The Coming of Galactus.
The Void, a 5/5 legendary Horror Villain creature with flying, indestructible, and "The Void attacks each combat if able." for The Sentry, Golden Guardian.
Doombot, a 3/3 Robot Villain artifact creature for Doctor Doom.
Themes and mechanics
The set introduces the Power-up mechanic. Power-up is a keyword ability that comes attached to activated abilities, and represents characters using their full power. Power-up abilities are the same as exhaust abilities, in that they can only be activated once; however, they have a unique mechanic of being discounted by the mana cost of the permanent they belong to (including color) if that permanent entered this turn. Taking design cues from the usage of exhaust, many power-up abilities use counters to help players remember that they've already been activated.[3]
Cameos include Boast, Connive and Enrage.
Card types
The use of the Hero and Villain types is one of the major throughlines in the Marvel collaboration.[6] This set focuses on Hero typal.
The set introduces the Gamma and Skrull creature types. It also introduces the Plan enchantment type. Plans work similarly to how previous sets have used enchantments with quest counters (i.e. they have triggered abilities that place counters on them, and gain an additional effect when they reach a certain number of counters), except that they use plan counters instead.[3]
Counters
The set introduces Plan counters.[3] It also features shield counters.
