The Immortal Faller, variously called the Dweller,[1] the One Who Sounds in the Deep, Him Who Falls, The Seeker in the Well, or simply the Faller is the savior and first prophet of the Monoist faith in the Edge.[2]
Description
The Faller is an immortal messianic figure of many names. He is represented in Monoist texts as the subscript pronouns He/Him, always capitalized. He is believed to be the first person to fall into a supervoid, and can be observed plummeting into the center of every supervoid.[3] The faith holds that beyond the center of every supervoid, known as the Zero Point, awaits INEVITA, the promised future. The creation of more supervoids accelerates their journey to the Next Eternity. The Monoists have been scouring the Edge for a sign from the Immortal Faller that points them toward the thousandth supervoid of their faith; Sothera.[2]
The Faller is reportedly the author of The Seeker and the Well. This book is the first volume of The Plummet Record. Unlike the second book, it is written in the first person. The Theorem Unending and Final is both the name of the Faller's song that Monoists work to interpret and the ever-expanding second volume of their books of faith. The theorem is assumed to be finite and can be heard issuing from every supervoid yet discovered.[2] It is the description of what is and what will come. The mission of Monoism is to observe his descent and to glean new elements of The Theorem from his transmissions.[1]
