Kuberr, called "The Wealthy One", was one of the Numena, ancient beings on the plane of Dominaria.

Description

In Virot Maglan's dream, he saw Kuberr as a gargantuan, organic humanoid, almost featureless, sitting atop a pyramidic gold mountain on an endless black stone desert. He was dressed in a high-collared robe, but the garment was the same pitch-black as Kuberr himself, and it was not possible to see where the body ended and the robe began. On his head was a crown with spear-long spikes. A huge crescent smile revealed row upon row of razor-sharp teeth, and above the smile was a row of eyes, evenly spaced around the entire head. His eyes were in constant motion, searching the horizon in every direction as he spoke. His size was such that his index finger was taller than Virot was.[1]

As a reborn human, Kuberr was black-haired and pale-skinned like his mother Phage, but his eyes were golden like burnished coins. Settling on the appearance of a thirteen-year-old, he was dressed in a black jumpsuit and looked as thin as a leather whip. He wore a jet-black cloak that fluttered behind him like the raven wings.[2][3]

History

In the Fall of the Primevals, Kuberr imprisoned the black Primeval Crosis the Purger in a tar pit catacomb in Urborg and received his powers.

During the rule of the Numena, Kuberr participated in killing the green and the white numena, leaving only Lowallyn, Averru, and himself. They claimed dominion over the plane for 1,000 years until the birth of Karona caused the Fall of the Numena and Kuberr's death.

Millennia later, Kuberr contacted Virot Maglan in a dream and granted him the power of death in return for worship. This sowed the seeds for the Rise of the Cabal, where Kuberr was worshipped as a god.[1]Kuberr rose to become the embodiment of avarice and profit.[4] He was reborn as a child of Phage and The First, who grew one day for every death made by a Cabal member, reaching puberty within days. He had power over gold, able to swim through a vault of coins as easily as water.

He united with the other Numena to destroy Karona but was killed when Karona withdrew the world's magic and then assaulted Averru, leaving Kuberr with very little countermagic. Karona tried to kill them all by encasing them in a solid block of stone, and while Lowallyn was freed from the block, Kuberr was left trapped inside too long and suffocated.[3]
