The Rise of the Cabal was an event that happened in what would become known as Cabal City on Otaria, on the plane of Dominaria.[1]
Description
After being set upon the Ilyssa family by his mother, Lady Maglan, Virot Maglan was approached by the dark god Kuberr in his dreams. Granted the ability to kill upon touch, he quickly rose to supreme prominence in the city, dispatching Ilyssa's cronies and family members rapidly. After turning the eldest daughter Cato Ilyssa to his cause, Virot was told by his family that the Ilyssas were submitting to the Maglans and becoming their vassals. However, Virot dreamt again of Kuberr, who bade him eliminate both family names, starting with himself. Virot gave up his name and became the First of the Cabal. He then turned his dark power upon his own family, killing his mother and all his siblings, Valdim Maglan, Vinyata Maglan, and Vozama Maglan, in one fell swoop. The Ilyssas were next, and the Patriarch of their house, Ockeed Ilyssa was killed, while his only remaining son, Danske Ilyssa, had to convert to the Cabal. Soon enough, the entire city was filled with Cabal worshippers and arena fighters, all serving the name of Kuberr.[1]
