Chester was a mule that was owned by Zagorka, a woman living on Otaria on Dominaria. He was her trusted friend and companion.

History

When Zagorka heeded the call of mule drivers needed in Aphetto, she traveled there in the hopes of earning a living once again. However, since she could not afford the entrance fee to the city, the guard gave Chester a mortal wound as payment. Horrified at this atrocity, Kamahl resuscitated Chester back to life with his newfound powers. It was not a true resurrection, as Kamahl noted, there was yet a tiny spark of life in the mule when he cast his spell. Due to the mutating power of Krosa, Chester not only was brought to life, he was much larger and stronger than he had ever been before, much larger than any natural mule. Zagorka was hired on as part of the mule teams to haul materials to build the Grand Coliseum, and there befriended Phage. She then rode Chester to participate in the Nightmare War, and he saved her life when they escaped the terrible nightmare death wurms that were spawned by Phage.[1]

Chester, Zagorka, and Stonebrow galloped south along the Corian Escarpment, and eventually stumbled over the crumbled entrance to the city of Averru, which Zagorka named "Sanctum". Chester then became Zagorka's mode of transportation between the high and low places of the ancient city, until the creation of a life which could let Zagorka ascend directly to the top of the settlement. When the Glyphs started to rise, Chester aided in allowing several of the intended victims to escape by kicking down walls and destroying some of the Glyphs with his hooves. He was separated from Zagorka, however, who became trapped inside a growing building. Zagorka perished during the Rebirth of Karona, and what ultimately happened to Chester is unknown.[2]
