Aerona[1] is the main continent of the Domains in Dominaria's northern hemisphere. It was the site of many of the early HarperPrism stories, and featured prominently in The Weatherlight Saga as well. It derives its name from an ancient fertility goddess who, according to legend, sacrificed herself to let people take crops from her body.[2]

North Aerona

North Aerona is the part of the continent that lies north of Hurloon. The climate in the northernmost part of Aerona is similar to that of the nearby island of Icehaven.

South Aerona

The largest part of the landmass of Aerona lies south of the narrower isthmus near Hurloon.

  • Barbar - a forest of apes
  • Benalia - a powerful military-forward nation, the former location of the Sheoltun Empire[4]
    • Andrion Bay - the bay south of the Benalish peninsula
    • The Atrivak Mounds, once Benalia's greatest penal colony.
    • Benalia City - capital of Benalia, a port at the Reitmar River on the northwestern peninsula.
    • The Caligo Morass - situated on the narrow coastal plain between the Red Iron Mountains and the Sea of Avenant, fed by the Tiel River.[10][11]
      • The Vess Estate
    • Capashen Manor - manor house on the west coast. Razed during the first Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria and later rebuilt.[12][13]
    • DeLatt - a Capashen village[12]
    • Devas - a village founded by refugees from Serra's Realm, led by the immortal warden Lyanii.[12]
    • The Floating Spires - levitating buildings of the Church of Serra dotting the skies, with a heavy concentration above Benalia City.
    • Kb'Briann Highlands - an open high plain of warrior clans.
    • Lake Tarmula - a lake in central Benalia, surrounded by a forest.[14]

  • Durkwood - a wild forest of beasts
  • Erg Mirab - a large dune desert[17]
    • The Aerie - home of the flying men of the Haari tribe[17]
    • Indorin's Tomb - A fortress tomb in the mountains of the Mirab[17]
  • Fors Basin - a coastal riverland
  • Hurloon - mountainous region of minotaurs[2][18]
    • Dwarven Hold - ancient settlement rich in mana
    • Morningstar Falls - a waterfall falling from a high cliff into the Hurloon valley[18]
    • Morningstar River - the river that runs through the Hurloon valley[18]
  • Ironclaw Mountains - ranges that home orcs, goblins and dwarves
  • Janar - a city of assassins [19]
  • Kush - land of festivals[9]
  • La - southern cape, famous for wood carvings[9]
  • Llanowar - gigantic lush forest ruled by elves
    • Ath Mountains - a mountain range north of Llanowar that is the source of the Fors River[22]
    • Basiphem - one of Llanowar's seven elfhames, with many old and tall trees
    • Fors River - Llanowar's longest river, running from the Ath Mountains to the ocean
    • Hedressel - one of Llanowar's seven elfhames, in the southwestern part of the forest
    • Kelfae - one of Llanowar's seven elfhames, whose elves bond with kavu
      • Welspree Ruins - half-submerged ruins on the edge of Lake Ardkanor
    • Lake Ardkanor - a freshwater lake on the edge of the forest
    • Loridalh - one of Llanowar's seven elfhames, magic-centered
    • Moen River - a southern border river
    • Pendelhaven - a great, ancient tree
    • Riashil - one of Llanowar's seven elfhames, focused on maintaining peace
      • Oak of the Oath - A tree of peace, where weapons are buried
    • Ruadach - one of Llanowar's seven elfhames, the most human-friendly[22]
      • Scoria - capital of Ruadach, a city set upon the Selendine River[22]
      • Selendine River - one of Llanowar's many rivers, running through Ruadach
    • Staprion - one of Llanowar's seven elfhames, one of fiercely defensive warriors
  • Morningbrook - a human village near Hurloon[18]
  • Mount Canval - a chilly three-peaked mountain[19]
  • Nalathni - land near Sursi, home to small dragons
  • Rundvelt - mountains near Sursi, home of goblin tribes[16]
  • The Southlands - the lands south and east of Estark[4]
  • Suder River - forms the effective border between Benalia and Llanowar.
  • Tonga Mountains - western range bordering the desert
  • Venaria - a mountainous peninsula known for its enchanted gold[24]

  • There is also an Elder Druid named Aerona as seen on the card Reincarnation, although their relationship with the continent, if any, is unknown.
