The Otaria Chasm is a cleft in the landscape of northern Otaria, on the plane of Dominaria.

Description

The Otaria Chasm is a stretch of water beneath the Cliffs of Onara, formed as part of the Aboshan Trench, a stretch of land that formerly belonged to continental Otaria. The Otaria Chasm created a rift across the land, making the very northern tip of the continent into an island.[1][2]

History

The Otaria Chasm was used to strategic advantage by Empress Llawan during the Battle for the Mirari, when she lured Laquatus and his army into the ravine under false pretenses, then sealed them off with a two-way portal at each end, ensuring the army had no way to access the Aboshan Trench, which she laid claim to. While Laquatus had to resort to using underwater passages to the Krosan forest, his army was hunted down and killed by Llawan's forces. Since Laquatus himself was killed in Krosa by Kamahl, the use of the Otaria Chasm effectively ended the Mer civil war.[2]
