Eskil (ESS-kill) was the great-great-grandson of Archmage Xarl Angel-Keeper and Eska from Golthonor on Dominaria. Eskil was born in the barony of Boite during the Enslavement of Trine and became the adopted son of Xarl, the wizard who corrupted the angel Trine. Eskil's real father was Elazar, who became a Duke upon giving his son up to Xarl.[1]
History
The Absolution of Trine happened after Eskil summoned the Serra Angel Rahel to fight Trine and free northern Corondor. When Trine's blood splashed him, Eskil was blinded, his skin and hair were bleached white, and he ascended as a planeswalker. He was thereafter called "Eskil the White". Later, Eskil became the guardian of the White Woods.
As one of the most benevolent planeswalkers on Dominaria, he saved the children of Corondor during the Blackblade–Dihada War. He settled in and became the guardian of the White Woods, where he was Mangara's mentor.[2]
Planeswalker War
During the Planeswalker War, the Ash Warlord Embereck destroyed Eskil's hut. Eskil transported both of them to New Argive, uncovering Embereck's past involvement with the Golgothian Sylex and the thousand-year-old conflict with Ravidel. Through dialogue and revelation, Eskil helped convince Embereck to oppose Ravidel. The pacifist Eskil did not fight directly in the war, but assisted the Shikaran survivors in fleeing the fall of their city and coordinated with allies to counteract the planeswalkers and other threats destabilizing the plane. He also aided Teferi in liberating Daria from her Amber Prison and worked alongside Freyalise to restore Corondor after the conflict.
