The Glimmervoid on Mirrodin was an expanse of low hills made of smooth, tiled metal that is otherwise featureless, functionally the plane's desert.[1] Above it shone Bringer.
Description
The Glimmervoid was central to the plane, and had to be crossed to reach the Mephidross from either the Tangle, the Quicksilver Sea or the Oxidda Chain. Dispersed over the Glimmervoid were the Razor Fields.
The Glimmervoid functioned as the plane's desert surface, uninhabited and unexplored, interrupted only by four huge towers that radiated with strong magic. Each was etched with the ancient runes of the ur-golems, a nearly forgotten race of powerful artifact creatures from centuries past. When taken together, the towers were a warning about Memnarch. The reflective metal surface can be used to send spells in several directions at once.[1]
During the Phyrexian takeover the Glimmervoid became a Contested War Zone. After the compleation of the plane, the previous surface of Mirrodin became the wasteland known as the Mirrex. However, Mirran survivors could harvest the plates from the former Glimmervoid to make hexgold, a substance that staved off phyresis.[2][3]
