Aphetto was the second largest city on the Dominarian continent of Otaria.
Description
Unlike Cabal City, which lay on the open salt flats, the settlement of Aphetto inhabited a deep, wet canyon carved by a winding river. The waterway itself was no longer even visible from the city, trickling through black depths two thousand feet below the cliffs of the city. Many overhangs and stone shelves jutted above the snaking heart of the canyon, and mists from below draped each level in gray curtains of moss. The city's main gate stood atop the cliff. From the gate stretched several suspension bridges - one led to the upper plateaus at the center of the valley, where royal estates perched. These lofty aeries were joined to each other by rope footpaths, looking like cobwebs. Another bridge led from the gate down to the wide lower plateaus with their marketplaces and guilds: the city proper. There, all of Aphetto's conventional trades had their homes. A third bridge led in switchback steps out to the fighting pits: the city improper.
Aphetto is a city steeped in intrigue and death. Some local wizards are little more than glorified thieves, while others deal in shady goods and information. The constant pit fights and dark magic have put the city into a permanent state of fear. Zombies and other lowlifes roam the streets, and no one with a shred of conscience stays out after dark. Aphetto is just the sort of place where the Cabal can thrive.[2]
Aphetto and its nearby swamps were home to the "Raven Guild", the Cabal, wizards, and zombies. The Raven Guild was a form of organized crime syndicate stealing work away from the Cabal. Aphetto was run by the Parliament of Knives, but weakly and ineffectually according to the Cabal Patriarch.[3]

History
A group of ambitious mages began coordinating their efforts to steal illicit business within the city from the Cabal.[6] Known as the Raven Guild, this group of wizard grifters, merchants, pickpockets, and spies was a significant force in Aphetto's organized crime.
Aphetto became the seat of power for the Cabal Patriarch, from where he ordered the building of the Grand Coliseum in the swamps. After the Rebirth of Karona and the death of the First, Aphetto fell under the rule of a child known only as The Boy, who was able to channel the presence of powerful Cabal leaders, such as the First, Phage, Braids and Kuberr. The Boy stood in defiance against Karona when she brought Karona's War and her Eroshian army to the canyon. Karona saved 500 people from the population of 10,000, and annihilated the rest, including the Boy. The entire canyon was gone, leaving only a black crater in the basin of the arid plain.[7]
