Auror is a barbarian village situated in a lush mountain valley in the Pardic Mountains on the continent Otaria on the plane of Dominaria.[1]

History

In 4205 AR, the war veterans Balthor Rockfist and Matoc arrived at Auror, Matoc's home village. There, they were met by the village's chieftain Galdan, and Matoc asked his chief to accept Balthor into the tribe as a true barbarian. Galdan was reluctant to accept a dwarf, but after Balthor offered up his ancestral axe inherited from Balthor Stoneface and battled Galdan in an arranged duel, Galdan accepted Balthor into their tribe. Balthor then reforged Urza's staff, recovered in battle, into a great sword for Matoc to replace the one he had lost at sea saving Balthor's life.[1]

100 years later, in 4305 AR, the Battle for the Mirari was brought to Auror when Matoc's grandson Kamahl brought the Mirari-infused sword with him from the destroyed Cabal City, and forced a challenge between any rival fighters from other barbarian clans in order to determine who would lead them all. Although Kamahl technically won the challenge, the barbarians refused to follow him in his madness, and after he gave his sister a lethal wound with his sword for trying to stop him, Kamahl realized he too had become warped by the artifact, and ceded the leadership over the barbarian tribes to Talon, his greatest challenger.

In 4500 AR, Jeska, now a planeswalker, returned to Otaria to view the damage from its time rift. As she arrived in Auror, she noted that the buildings were all in ruins, and the road was broken and webbed with weeds. She wondered where her people were, if they had packed up and headed deeper into the mountains or if they were simply gone — dead or scattered like the rest of Otaria’s great nation-tribes.[2]
