Yosei (YO-say;[1] Japanese: (よう) (せい) ; rōmaji: Yōsei; literally: "Yang Star") was the legendary ryuu—a divine dragon—who protected the plains of Kamigawa and served as the guardian spirit of Eiganjo. Following his death, he was later reincarnated as Ao, a male dragon spirit.

History

Kami War

During the Kami War, Yosei was summoned by Konda to battle against the formidable entity O-Kagachi. In a fierce confrontation with the Great Serpent, Yosei suffered a grievous injury that left half of his body torn away. Despite this devastating wound, he stood firm in defense of Eiganjo Castle against the invading hordes of akki. Ultimately, Yosei perished after valiantly protecting the castle.

Neon Dynasty

After fifty years spent dormant inside an egg beneath the sacred tree Boseiju, Yosei was reborn alongside other ryuu. His reincarnation took the form of Ao, known as the Dawn Sky.[2]

Haunted by the traumatic memories of his brutal death at the hands of O-Kagachi, Ao initially refused to resume his role as protector of Eiganjo after the city was rebuilt. He attempts to keep himself removed from mortal concerns and affairs. However, despite his vows to remain distant, he sometimes intervenes when confronted with extreme injustices that he cannot ignore.[3]
