The Genju (GEN-joo)[1] are great spirits of the land of Kamigawa.[2][3]

Description

The Genju is a type of Kami that inhabits the lands of Kamigawa. When awakened, the Genju animate the lands they inhabit as monstrous creatures. If the terrain is destroyed, the Genju can simply relocate to a new section of the appropriate type of land and proceed to animate that.

Known Genju

  • The Genju of the Realm is an enormous legendary kami with aspects of plains, islands, swamps, mountains and forests. It represents the spirit of the entire Kamigawa world coming to life. The kami has plains spread across his right elbow, a boggy swamp on his left, mountains on his shoulders, a forest glade growing out of his head, and a waterfall flowing out of his mouth.
  • The Genju of the Fields are kami that inhabit the plans of the plane. They appear as large slug-like kami that grow out of the ground.
  • The Genju of the Falls are kami inhabits the islands of the plane. They appear as large floating sea kami with one eye and a mouth full of sharp teeth.
  • The Genju of the Fens are kami that inhabit the swamps of the plane. They appear as hulking kami with horns, tusks, a bony exoskeleton, and visible muscles.
  • The Genju of the Spires are kami that inhabit the mountains of the plane. They appear as large worm-like kami with sharp teeth that wrap around mountains.
  • The Genju of the Cedars are kami that inhabit the forests of the plane. They appear as large plant-like kami with sharp teeth that rise out of forests.
