Ben-Ben (BEHN-behn;[1] Japanese: ベンベン) was a foul-smelling outcast akki hermit on Kamigawa. An eccentric goblin, he was smarter than the average akki and known to wear an octopus on his head and carry lotus flowers.[2] He possessed the ability to manipulate stones with his mind through a ritual he performed by wheezing and coughing.
History
Ben-Ben belonged to the Ishi tribe before he was banished from the caves for his smell.[2] He had limited shamanic abilities that he sometimes used to protect the other akki. Some akki thought of Ben-Ben as a kami of trickery in disguise. They hunted for him in the maze of warrens, often falling prey to his traps.
He was present in Hidetsugu's hut during the ritual of Kobo's acceptance into the Hyozan Reckoners. His tribe sent him to ask Hidetsugu for advice. Later, he participated together with the brothers Yamazaki in a ritual summoning the Myojin of Infinite Rage, who gave both the akki and the sanzoku his blessings.
