Shinka (SHIN-kah;[1] Japanese: (しん) () ; literally: "True Fire") is a location in the Sokenzan mountains.

Description

There is a discrepancy between Shinka's portrayal on the cards and in the books.

Books

In the books, Shinka was a cave-dwelling of the o-bakemono Hidetsugu, where the ogre shaman lived, performed his rituals, worshipped his master, and trained his apprentices. In front of the cave, the ogre placed rows of heads on spikes, a warning sign for the people wanting to disrupt his business.

Cards

On the cards, Shinka Keep is a skull-lined citadel high in the mountains.[2] The ogres built Shinka a thousand years before the Kami War as a monument to the malevolent oni they worshipped. Local sanzoku (mountain bandits) claimed that its mortar was made from the ground bones of the ogres’ victims. Within Shinka’s fire-lit corridors, the ogre mages practice blood magic to summon the demons of the spirit world.
