Boss Uramon was a criminal overlord in the Takenuma swamp on Kamigawa.[1]

Description

Uramon's face was always covered in a thick layer of white powder, and her hair was either dyed black or she wore an excellent wig. She had a round face, but there was no softness to it. Her expression was always one of disinterest and her eyes were frequently half-closed. Behind her slitted lids, though, they were sharp and penetrating. Neither beautiful nor homely, Uramon's face was a nondescript mask that she had spent a lifetime perfecting. Unless she spoke or made eye contact, it was impossible to imagine how such a bland woman had mustered such a successful criminal empire. People taken in by this false lack of charisma often found themselves working for Uramon without knowing exactly how. She wore a simple black robe and wooden sandals.[2]

Uramon was a worshipper of the Myojin of Night's Reach and she possessed an artifact that allowed her to travel via shadows, the Shadow Gate. Thanks to the Gate, she was renowned for her ability to appear unexpectedly when and where she needed.

History

She built her manor in Numai, employing many humans, nezumi, and even ogres or akuba. When the soratami started to infiltrate the swamp, she sent for Toshiro Umezawa to question him. Toshi escaped, and Uramon sent Kiku and Marrow-Gnawer after him to the Heart of Frost, where Toshi used a Yuki-Onna to force the duo into joining the Hyozan Reckoners gang to survive, and they turned against their former master. They returned with Toshi in tethers, but when Uramon ordered him executed, they instead released him and attacked. Toshi stole the Shadow Gate from Uramon, and the overlord herself was killed by Kiku's camellia.[2]
