Sugi Hayashi was a kitsune village in Jukai forest on the plane of Kamigawa.
Description
Sugi Hayashi was a small collection of huts populated by about 70 kitsune. It lay within the bounds of the Jukai, although it was not far from the edge of Towabara Plains. It lay a few days' ride northeast from Eigan Town. The village was home to several named kitsune, including Lady Pearl-Ear and her brother Sharp-Ear, the elder Silk-Eyes, captain Silver-Foot, the messenger Cloud-Fur, and the three brothers Dawn-Tail, Blade-Tail and Frost-Tail.[1]
History
During the Kami War, Lady Pearl-Ear returned to her village after a few decades in the service of Takeshi Konda at Eiganjo, seeking answers to her questions regarding the origin of the war. There, she met with elder Silk-Eyes who advised her for a few days, until Michiko Konda arrived guided by a foxfire light cast by Sharp-Ear. Michiko had become separated from her traveling company Riko and Choryu, who were also brought to the village after being caught by captain Silver-Foot. An akki warband had been spotted nearby, led by the bandit twins Seitaro and Shujiro Yamazaki. Captain Nagao then arrived with his battalion of soldiers, demanding the return of the Princess to her home, but the impending danger of the goblins forced him to remain in the village while the threat was assessed. They concluded a company would ride out to face the akki and bandits, but they had underestimated their enemy and were routed. The akki had a [[kami] on their side and had thrice the numbers that had been spotted earlier. Both Nagao and Sharp-Ear were wounded, and it was decided that Michiko's party would leave Sugi Hayashi to go to the lands of the orochi, following the vision presented to them by Silk-Eye's magic.[1]
Sugi Hayashi was razed by the akki army, but the kitsune swore they would rebuild it.
