Frenzy is a triggered keyword ability that was first featured in Future Sight.

Description

Frenzy is a triggered ability. “Frenzy N” means “Whenever this creature attacks and isn’t blocked, it gets +N/+0 until end of turn.” It was made as a mechanic to encourage blocking.

History

For a long time, it was only printed on one card, the timeshifted Frenzy Sliver. In 2017, the ability reappeared on Garbage Elemental (Unstable, #82a).

Mark Rosewater has tried to put frenzy in numerous sets, but Play Design is not a fan, stating that the play pattern is not that fun.[2][3][4]

Rules

From the glossary of the Comprehensive Rules (June 7, 2024—Modern Horizons 3)

Frenzy
A keyword ability that can make a creature better in combat. See rule 702.68, “Frenzy.”

From the Comprehensive Rules (June 7, 2024—Modern Horizons 3)
