Morcant is a perfect from Lorwyn-Shadowmoor, and the current ruler of the Gilt-Leaf elves.
Description
Morcant is tall and beautifully rounded, with a long, elegant neck and a symmetrical build.[1] Her hooves are large and sharp, polished and gilded in gold, and her horns are breathtakingly large, their tips edged with gold and bending out and then spiraling inward, like the emulation of a crown. Morcant seeks to rally people under elvish authority to end the existence of Shadowmoor and restore the Gilt-Leaf Empire's rule over Lorwyn.[2][3]
History
After four Strixhaven students were deposited on Lorwyn-Shadowmoor by an Omenpath, they sought to find Maralen for guidance on how to return home. While they were traveling through the Gilt-Leaf, however, one of them was captured by Morcant's subordinate Lluwen. Lluwen brought the student, Kirol, before Morcant. The perfect demanded Kirol's knowledge of the premature awakening of Isilu, and once they explained that they and their friends had awoken it by mistake, she began to plot.[1]
Thinking Isilu may be vulnerable, Morcant devised a plan to harvest dawnglove, whose healing properties would poison the beast of night. However, since she would change to her Shadowmoor aspect if she tried to pick the dawnglove herself, she conscripted Kirol to do it for her, since they had no dual nature.[4] When Rimekin approached the grove of Dawnglade, Morcant refused to let Kirol leave, but they were interrupted by Ajani Goldmane, who had been sent by Kirol's professor to retrieve them from the plane. As she attempted to poison Isilu with the dawnglow retrieved by Kirol, they returned with their classmate Sanar and, along with Lluwen's help, stole the dawnglow from her, transforming her into her Shadowmoor aspect in the process.[5]
