Description

Kinsbaile is the largest kithkin clachan in Lorwyn, home to about 600 residents.[2][3][4] The majority are kithkin, though as a prominent trading hub, Kinsbaile also hosts boggarts, merrow, faeries, and flamekin. Trading traffic buzzes around the docks of Lake Laightle, which fuels the town's economy. Waterwheels and windmills work busily, while docks and cargo boats are nearly as numerous as the population.

Merchants hold the most political power in Kinsbaile. The Curiosities Traders' Guild, Kinsbaile's largest trade group, directs the town's commercial affairs. Its guildmaster, Claide Fiobhan, runs the magic item shop Sundry Curiosities, while the town's merrows are served by Maghen's Marketplace within Lake Laightle.

Kinsbaile's leaders value community and traditions, and Kinsbaile hosts several celebratory festivals throughout the year. The largest is the Festival of Tales, a days-long gathering in which participants from far and wide come to share their favorite experiences from the past year and tales of yore.[5] Accounts are always embellished and highly entertaining, though they must be based on truth.

History

At the time of the Great Aurora in 4520 AR, the town was led by the cenn Gaddock Teeg, and its champion and protector was the Hero of Kinsbaile, archer Brigid Baeli.[6] The presence of treefolk sage Colfenor contributed to the fact that Kinsbaile became a focal point for the Gilt-Leaf elves, who hunted Colfenor's former pupil and daen of Gilt-Leaf hunters, Rhys. The Gilt-Leaf, under the leadership of taercenn Nath and daen Gryffid, occupied Kinsbaile and waited for the traitor, with long-term plans to punish the kithkin for hiding Rhys and to build a permanent elvish outpost there.

In the end, Kinsbaile was spared the elvish wrath when Nath was killed by Rhys, and the rest left to pursue him. Several buildings suffered fire damage when the rekindling of the flamekin Ashling caused Colfenor to burn.

Kinsbaile was repopulated after the entire population of its Shadowmoor counterpart was killed by Oona.[7]
