Gaddock Teeg was a cenn of the largest Lorwyn kithkin clachan, Kinsbaile.
Description
Gaddock Teeg was an eloquent speaker and politician, believing that almost any disagreement could be resolved by proper talking, offers, denials, and compromises. His right hand was Kinsbaile's heroine, archer Brigid Baeli.
History
Lorwyn
During the annual Festival of Tales in 4520 AR, Teeg found himself in the middle of much trouble. He hosted the yew treefolk sage Colfenor, whose presence drew a growing array of other people to Kinsbaile, the company of whom Teeg was clearly not adequately prepared to handle. Through Teeg, Colfenor hired the flamekin messenger Ashling to reunite him with his former pupil Rhys, a Gilt-Leaf elf outlawed from his tribe after his magic backfired during a last-ditch effort to save his fellow hunters during a lost battle. Rhys was unknowingly being pursued by his recent commander, Taercenn Nath, who soon arrived at Kinsbaile and laid siege to it just as the festival began. Teeg at the time was anxiously preoccupied with preparations for festivities and was woefully unaware of how quickly matters in town had escalated behind the scenes, eventually mistaking vinebred soldiers— horrific, vine-covered Gilt-Leaf shock troops made from the animated flesh of their victims— as uncouth topiaries. Kinsbaile fell immediately as Teeg welcomed Nath openly, demonstrating pitiful obsequiousness rather than any form of resistance. His immediate concern was how he'd salvage his reputation and dodge responsibility should, miraculously, Kinsbaile somehow survive.[1]
Rhys had unintentionally managed to narrowly evade Nath by leaving the clachan to perform a task given to him by Colfenor. Nath and his subordinate Gryffid awaited his return and, in the meantime, set out to subjugate Kinsbaile's population and build a permanent elvish outpost there. Teeg, in a gamble to win Nath's favor and spare Kinsbaile, ordered Brigid, who accompanied Rhys on his task, to bring him back subdued, dead, or alive. However, Colfenor caught the messenger moths and modified the message that Brigid targeted Ashling instead, inadvertently foiling Gaddock's plot to appease Nath.[1]
When Rhys returned, he was forced to fight with his former tribesmen. In the end, he emerged victorious, killing Nath and threatening the rest of the elves out of the clachan. Teeg perished in the conflagration caused by Colfenor when the treefolk used Ashling's patron elemental to end his own life, though the details of the cenn's death are unknown.
Legacy
After the Aurora, the position of the cenn of Kinsbaile, now called Kinscaer, was occupied by Donal Alloway.
