The Reaper is a legendary scarecrow from Shadowmoor.
Description
The creature debuted as the Reaper King in Shadowmoor and used to be considered the most powerful of the animated scarecrows in the plane of Shadowmoor.[1] It appears as a large hunched over scarecrow with numerous cloth tied around the sticks keeping it together and what appears to be the remains of the top of a pumpkin for its head.
As of Lorwyn Eclipsed, the Reaper is king no more.[2]
Trivia
- The Reaper King's crown was featured as the expansion symbol for Shadowmoor ().[3]
- The Reaper King was also featured on a Vanguard avatar in Magic Online that reduced the player's starting hand and life in exchange for granting a +1/+1 power/toughness bonus per each of its colors.
- The Reaper King is the only WUBRG artifact Scarecrow.
- It was the only multicolored Scarecrow until the release of Duskmourn: House of Horror and its associated Commander decks.
