The Murmuring Bosk was a sacred grove of Lorwyn treefolk in the Great Forest.[1]

Description

In its prime, the Murmuring Bosk was a great sprawling grove heavy with a woodsy perfume. It served as a place of gathering for parliamentary treefolk and their elf attendants. Treefolk varieties were well-represented in the Bosk's parliament, from the oak, poplar, and ash varieties that counted themselves as the most numerous, to the rarest varieties of treefolk found only in the deepest and wildest woods.[2] The treefolk council often employed elvish shaman apprentices as seedguides, wardens of the young treefolk offspring.

Almost all Lorwyn treefolk once began their lives as normal trees in the Bosk, and after the "Rising", they gained the ability to walk freely. The ancient race gathered and returned here to discuss various issues and plant the seed cones of those who would continue their lineage. While the trees cannot think, treefolk can empathically understand them as though they could, and archdruids are known to retrieve wisdom from its denizens' thousands of years of knowledge.[3]

The Murmuring Bosk now stands in ruin, with sundered rocks, ashen mulch, and blackened soil replacing the thriving forest of trees and treefolk. Fortunately, life grows quickly in the grove, and the Mumuring Bosk has begun to heal as a few nascent sprouts have begun to reclaim their home.[2]

History

When Rhys arrived at Murmuring Bosk after Colfenor asked him to plant his cone there in 4520 AR, he found the Bosk had been leveled. The forest had been systematically uprooted. The trees were torn out of the ground, hacked, and burned, all by unknown hands that acted with sustained will. Despite the desolation, the grove was slowly starting to regrow, starting with black poplar seedlings; the most stubborn and resistant of all species. Rhys planted Colfenor's cone there. When he returned after some time, he found the Bosk slowly but surely regrowing back.
