Rutstein is a human peasant and a travelling Kessig citizen.[1] He is known as Old Rutstein on Innistrad, and as Honest Rutstein on Thunder Junction.

History

Rutstein on Innistrad

Known as a purveyor of the finest goods, Old Rutstein drives a carriage full of his wares around Kessig and the surrounding lands. Although he travels alone, he is well protected: holy symbols and charms bedeck his carriage and his person, wards are inscribed on every surface of his crates and chests, and a huge silver heron symbol, allegedly "found" near the bell tower of an old Avacynian cathedral, is strapped to the carriage roof. Rutstein often carries contraband goods, including human blood and body parts. Some believe he is a pawn of vampire scheming; others have heard that geists follow him wherever he goes; still others say he is an alchemist who knows more magic than he lets on. One thing is certain: he never gets lost in the woods.[2] He sells a range of items from stakes to holy water, at a price he claims can't be beat.[3] While he comes off as a conman, his wares are successful most of the time.

Thunder Junction

Rutstein entered Thunder Junction through an Omenpath between 4562 and c. 4563 AR. There, he became known as Honest Rutstein.

Planes visited

Though not a planeswalker, Rutstein has traveled between planes via Omenpaths.
