Yuma is a human ranger from New Capenna who traveled through an Omenpath to Thunder Junction.

Description

Yuma is a former Riveteer from New Capenna, Capenna.[1] He has a burn on his arm from a confrontation with Elnor. He is a transgender man, having had his humors changed by a Capennan body-man.[2] Yuma is a skilled fighter with the unique ability to talk to plants.[3] He is true to himself and his beliefs, and he will always do what he thinks is right — a tendency that put him on the wrong side of his former employers.

Yuma's bar has two levels: floor and mezzanine. The upper floor contains bedrooms that connect into suites and felt-covered card and dice tables. The bar is covered in intricate, interlacing vines that produce massive red flowers and humidify the air, a unique species of plant generated by Yuma's cactusfolk companion Kirri.

History

As a member of the Riveteers, Yuma was a weaponsmith and enforcer.[1][3] As a youth, he specialized in hand-to-hand fighting. After the New Phyrexian Invasion, he became disillusioned with the gang, and he, together with his friend Elnor, her girlfriend Shadress, and several others, left the Riveteers to start their own co-operative. For some time, they did well, even making enough money to pay for Yuma to medically transition. Eventually, however, they were overwhelmed by debt and made powerful enemies. Yuma realized that he would either be killed, imprisoned, or forced back into the Riveteers, so he took the only way out he could think of and ran through a random Omenpath with all the money they had left. It brought him to Thunder Junction.

After arriving in Thunder Junction, Yuma encountered an infant cactusfolk he named Kirri and took him under his care.[4][1] He built a new life in Thunder Junction by opening a bar, introducing cocktails, cards, and dice to the plane. Eventually, Elnor arrived on the plane to try to reclaim the money Yuma had run away with, and they had a shootout in his bar. He was able to talk her into moving on after Kirri intervened in the fight.
