Early story warning
Stories prior to Mirage were written by authors outside of Wizards of the Coast.
“The heroes of the past nourish our spirits by their example—and nourish our crops by their decay.”
|
The following characters were considered planeswalkers in stories prior to Mirage, but this has been contradicted by later information:
Chaney's status as a planeswalker is contested. She is described as having considerable powers (she can manipulate the flow of time) and she was surely able to planeswalk in her youth; however she grows old and dies like a mortal woman: whether this means that she didn't have a proper spark, somehow lost it, or simply chose to die remains unknown.
Not planeswalkers
The following characters are often thought to be planeswalkers but have been confirmed not to be.
- Hazezon Tamar
- Karona
- Ith
- Lim-Dûl
- Marit Lage
- Myojin of Night's Reach
- Rhys
- The Eldrazi
- The Ur-Dragon
- The Weatherlight
- The Elder Dragons (excluding Nicol Bolas and Ugin)
Potential planeswalkers who never ignited
The following characters possessed a planeswalker's spark, but either lost the spark or died before they could ignite it.
- Glacian — Died around -5,000 AR.
- Glissa — Transferred the spark to Slobad, compleated.
- Radha — Extinguished the spark closing time rifts during the Temporal crisis of Dominaria.

- Space Beleren (
