The Dungeon Master is a white-haired dwarfish planeswalker wizard who is known for assembling adventure parties. He is white/blue aligned.

Background

The character of the Dungeon Master was created by Wizards of the Coast for a celebration card as part of the 2018 Heroes of the Realm program.[1]

The name, the use of a d20 and a d4 and the adventuring party consisting of a fighter, a cleric, a rogue and a wizard are all references to the Dungeons & Dragons game. More precisely, the Dungeon Master's appearance is a clear reference to the character of the same name from the 1983-1985 cartoon series Dungeons & Dragons and the image of the Dungeon Master opening doors, and the appearance of the doors themselves, is a direct reference to the Dungeon Master Guide first edition (1983 version, 8th+ print).

There are only four copies of this card in existence.

Black-bordered

The Dungeon Master was later also depicted on the black-bordered card Commander's Sphere in the Secret Lair: Saturday Morning D&D. The Secret Lair Mike, the Dungeon Master is unrelated. It refers to the Dungeons & Dragons game role and another IP, not to the cartoon character.
