"Icy" was the nickname given by Garruk Wildspeaker to an unnamed planeswalker who wielded powerful ice magic. Hired by Vronos to capture Garruk and return him to Innistrad, Icy tracked him to Shandalar and attempted to subdue him through brute force and intimidation, but was killed when Garruk turned the tables and decapitated him before he could escape.[1]

Description

Icy was described as tall and thin, with a long, pale face and white hair rimmed with frost and icicles, jutting out like frozen spikes. He wore flowing blue robes trimmed with silver and black. His eyes were a deep, uniform blue with no visible irises, and he exuded an unnatural chill that froze the surrounding air and ground. When he approached Garruk, even the sound of his footsteps on the forest floor was the crunch of ice, and he carried no discernible scent, something that struck Garruk as unnatural. Icy spoke in a clipped, harsh voice with an arrogant, threatening demeanor. He displayed confidence in his power over ice and cold, but ultimately underestimated Garruk’s brute cunning and speed. Despite his calculating nature and careful preparation, his final attempt to subdue Garruk failed when hesitation gave the hunter an opening to strike.[1]

History

Icy confronted Garruk Wildspeaker in a forest clearing on Shandalar, hired for "a great deal of money" by Vronos to return Garruk to Innistrad, supposedly to face Avacyn. Garruk, who had already slain Vronos and taken his mask as a trophy, refused to be captured. Despite Icy’s threats to freeze Garruk's mind and physically plane him away encased in ice, Garruk exploited Icy’s hesitation. When Icy began conjuring an ice portal to planeswalk them both away, Garruk decapitated him before the spell could complete. The frozen portal shattered and melted instantly, leaving Icy’s lifeless body behind. Garruk noted grimly that Icy’s threats had sealed his fate — and that threatening a monster rarely ends well for the one who does it.[1]
