The Fall of the Conclave of Mages happened towards the end of the Dark Age on Terisiare, Dominaria.[1]

Description

After Primata Delphine raised an army of the Church of Tal against the Conclave of Mages, they assaulted the citadel. Delphine herself was aglow with wards and was immune to spells, but others of the church were killed in the assault by blasts of fire and life-draining spells cast by the conclave wizards. Several mages were also killed in the assault, but after some struggles, it was clear the church army would lose. Delphine herself encountered the Conclave's leader Mairsil, and though she was immune to his spells, he drained her wards with the Wand of Ith and then stabbed her to death, setting fire to her corpse. [1]

In the meantime, Jodah and Sima had liberated Lord Ith by destroying Barl's Cage. Ith, furious and insane, killed his own Rag Man and rose through the floors wreaking havoc on the citadel's structures. Mairsil and Jodah faced off against each other when Ith burst through the room. Although Mairsil used the drained wards to stay immune to Ith's spells, a burning ray redirected by Jodah's Mirror caused Mairsil to catch fire. As Mairsil ran screaming and burning from the room, Jodah then used the mirror to restore Ith's sanity. Ith, still intent on destroying his former prison, cast a fear spell on all the surviving mages of the Conclave, causing them to flee the building in a panic. Ith then went on to crumble the entire citadel until it was a pile of rubble perched on the edge of the abyss and turning Barl into his new Rag Man. After Ith left to be alone, the surviving mages of the Conclave all traveled to the City of Shadows, the one school of magic left on Terisiare.[1]
