The Royal Academy of Magic was located in Krov, the capital of Kjeldor on the continent of Terisiare during the Ice Age of Dominaria.
Description
The Royal Academy of Magic was one of the tallest towers in the city of Krov, surpassing that of the domed aeries of the skyknights, and rivaling the thick, heavy spires of the Imperial Palace itself. The academy was often pointed to as a counterpoint to the secretive School of the Unseen on Lat-Nam at the antipode of the continent. Their spells and military might have brought them security in the shadows of the northern glaciers.[1]
History
By 2394 AR, the academy was led by Gustha Ebbasdotter, the most powerful recognized wizard in Kjeldor. Jaya Ballard snuck into her tower and reclaimed Jodah's Mirror from Gustha's owl familiar.[1]
After Lim-Dûl's Battle, where Gustha Ebbasdotter was killed, all the different groups of spellcasters - enchanters, alchemists, and sorcerers, went their separate ways, with some even joining Zur's followers. Darien was unwilling to support one faction over the others, and so the academy quickly crumbled in the first period of the Thaw.[1] The Royal Academy as an institution finally fell along with the rest of the city of Krov when Garza Zol took control over it.[2] Krov's vampires and elementalists joined forces with the Cult of Rimewind, who used Krov's libraries to locate Phyrexian war machines.[3]
