Sima was a mage during the Dark Age and the beginning of the Ice Age of Dominaria. She was the archmage Jodah’s first wife.[1]

Description

Sima had a heart-shaped face, smooth skin, pleasing features, and dark hair cut in bangs. She preferred to wear blue clothing, like a dark blue gown slip up to the hips, with blue leggings underneath, and the only piece of jewelry she used was a golden comb she set in her hair to hold it back from her face. She tended to curse using names from the Brothers' War, such as "in Mishra's name" and "Feldon's cane and crutches". She was from the City of Shadows in Lat-Nam, and her spells used the blue mana of her island home. When she met Jodah, she described him with words like "idiot child", while he thought of her as a "young woman", indicating she was a few years older than him.[1]

History

Sima and Jodah met for the first time in the city-state of Ghed when Jodah was selling Alabaster Potions for Mother Dobbs. Jodah had been modifying the crone's mundane elixirs, making them able to cure disease. Sima followed him, and he jumped her in an alley. After confirming he was behind the magical potions, they were surprised by a team of guards. Sima cast a spell called Unbalancing, knocking Jodah over and causing him nausea while she escaped.[1]

Having heard mention of Voska from her encounter with Jodah, and hoping to recruit him to the City of Shadows, Sima decided to look for him. She picked up on a planted rumor that the mage was alive in Alsoor, so she headed there and immediately fell into a trap set by Primata Delphine originally intended for Jodah. Sima was thus imprisoned by the Church of Tal and was slated for execution.[1]

After the Battle of Pitdown, Jodah spotted Sima in a prison transport headed for Ghed. Jodah snuck into her prison cell, and Sima taught Jodah how to disenchant her moonsilver manacles. When they were surprised by Togath, Sima cast Amnesia on him, knocking him out. After a narrow escape from Delphine, the two headed for Sima's home in the City of Shadows but suffered a storm where Jodah was swept overboard. Sima later tracked him down to the Conclave of Mages, where she helped Jodah free Lord Ith, thus contributing to the Fall of the Conclave of Mages. Afterward, Jodah and Sima took the surviving mages and traveled to the City of Shadows together, where Jodah became the Archmage Eternal. [1]

Jodah and Sima were later married, but Sima grew old as the years went on, and after the Start of the Ice Age, she eventually died. Jodah sat by her bedside when she passed away. Sima's death was the latest in a long line of emotional strains for Jodah, who began to descend into madness. He saved himself by using his mirror to save his memories, wipe his mind clean, and use the memories in the mirror to regain himself, without the emotional attachment.[2]
