Burrenton is the name of a moderately-sized outlying kithkin clachan in Lorwyn and the pastures around it.[1] It is near Spinerock Knoll.
Description
Burrenton is a cozy village of clusters of thatched-roof homes and shops wound through by cobblestone paths.[2] Wooden bridges span babbling brooks and steam billows from the stacks of numerous smithies. The clachan is home to about 200 residents. Most are kithkin, although its denizens also include flamekin and changelings. Its denizens once faced the encroachment of a nearby flamekin settlement, but by 4564 AR, they are known to trade with their flamekin neighbors.[3][4]
Burrenton is a clachan of smiths, best known for its engineering and alchemy.[3][2] Its forge fires never need stoking, sustaining themselves on harvested oak and birch timbers from the border forests and a seasoning of pebbles from Spinerock Knoll.[5] Inventors, smiths, and alchemists produce a host of wonders, including fantastic flying machines and a substance called bottled fire. Forgoing a cenn, the clachan's numerous artisan and inventor guilds elect a leader to serve as Burrenton's de facto mayor, known as an Inventor General. Around 4564 AR, Alba Lachlaen held this position.
Nestled in the heart of Burrenton is a bustling community gathering space called the Aeghith.[2] As the Aeghith is Burrenton's tallest building, its gently sloping roof is the first thing travelers see when they approach the village. This large building hosts events like invention fairs, professional gatherings, guild meetings, weddings, parties, and holiday celebrations nearly every day. When it's not holding an event, the Aeghith is closed to the public while community members clean its facilities or prepare for the next gathering. Any resident of Burrenton is welcome to request use of the Aeghith for an event on a first-come, first-served basis. Director Morton Draechnir oversees all events here.
The Aeghith is in pristine condition despite existing for generations.[2] Community members regularly repair and reinforce its wooden floors and stone exterior, and its roof is rethatched every decade. The first floor's ceiling is 20 feet high, while the second is 10 feet high. A map of the Aeghith is included in D&D Lorwyn: First Light.
