History
The brothers Yamazaki were still in the service of lord Konda when the Kami War began. As they received word that Konda was pulling forces away from the Sokenzan Range to strengthen his army at Eiganjo, they knew that the move meant the destruction of their home village, and the surrounding villages as well, to kami attack.
Disgusted, they left Konda's service and returned to the Sokenzan.[4] There they met a barbarian lord named Godo. Godo was a fierce warrior who opposed Konda with every vein in his body. The brothers joined the sanzoku bandits and became Godo's most respected lieutenants. During an attack on Sugi Hayashi, Shujiro nearly fatally wounded Nagao, and was shot through the neck by Sharp-Ear in response. Narrowly surviving, the brother became both quieter and more reckless. However, it was after a failed assault on Eiganjo that they left Godo's service as well. A messenger had arrived, carrying a note from their father that urged them to return home. He had been using his magic to protect the village from kami, but now needed their aid.
When they arrived at their village they met and defeated a kami of ice and fire, who was prowling the perimeter of the village. It was after Seitaro had slain the kami, that it was revealed that it was their father in the guise of a guardian who protected the village. Their father died as a result of the fight, and the brothers reluctantly took up the role of guardians of the village. They defeated countless kami, and the village never fell throughout the war or after because of them. However, their valiant deeds were never recorded, and because of an unknown event later in their lives, the brothers never spoke to each other again.
