Lucard is the vampire king of the island of Luneau on the plane of Ixalan. His current status is uncertain.
Description
King Lucard is a gaunt-faced man with immaculate facial hair. He has stooped shoulders, suggesting that the crown he wears feels like a burden. His regal appearance is complemented by a demeanor that conveys weariness and the weight of responsibility. Despite his position, there is an air of fragility about him, underscored by his heavily ornate attire and the way he carries himself, more like a man oppressed by his crown than one reveling in it.[1]
King Lucard exudes a quiet, resigned presence, almost as if he is enduring his role rather than embracing it. His interactions with others show a mix of detached politeness and an underlying fatigue. He does not actively seek confrontation but watches events unfold with a kind of passive interest, indicating a ruler who has perhaps seen too much and feels powerless to change his circumstances. His demeanor during the baron's cruel vivisection of the monstrosaur reveals a man who is accustomed to, and possibly desensitized to, the macabre spectacles of his court.[2]
History
In the chaos that ensued when Vivien Reid enacted her plan to escape, a series of events unfolded rapidly. Vivien used her magic to transform a small spider into a giant, causing panic among the assembled nobles and nuns. This distraction allowed Vivien to summon the spirit of the monstrosaur, which had been cruelly vivisected by Marcois Jean-Jaquent, the Baron of Vernot. The revived monstrosaur, driven by a desire for retribution, wreaked havoc in the ballroom. King Lucard, amid the destruction and chaos, was likely caught in the crossfire, as the building itself began to collapse under the strain of the creature's rampage. The precise fate of King Lucard is not detailed, but it can be inferred that he, along with many others in the ballroom, was overwhelmed by the ensuing destruction and chaos.[3]
