History
As director of the Queen's Bay Company, Bartolomé joined the expedition led by Vito Quijano de Pasamonte to discover the temple of Aclazotz.[1] He was killed by Vito while attempting to protect Amalia Benavides Aguirre and Kellan.[4]
Trivia
- The art for Bartolomé del Presidio (The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, #224) is inspired by Michelangelo's Pietà.[5]
- Bartolomé's character and name may be a reference to Bartolomé de las Casas (del Presidio and de las Casas meaning "of the garrison" and "of the houses," respectively), a social reformer and official indigenous advocate. The Lost Caverns of Ixalan Lead Art Director Ovidio Cartagena mentioned the reformer as one of the set's inspirations.[6]
