Helana was a Sun worshipper on a world with a single moon, where the light Sun-Moon aspect was accompanied by a dark half personified in a goddess named Gohrah.

History

In c. 4100 AR, Helana's father, the Sun priest named Koborah, was about to be summoned by a planeswalker called Gerheart, so he quickly has to teach Helana how to be the next priest of their parish. However, he was whisked away before being able to tell her the use of all the magic Sun-stones in possession of the church. Finding a special prismatic Sun-stone that allowed her to track her father to the plane where he was summoned, Helana met the demon Illith. Illith told her that her father had been taken down to Hell, and they went there together using Helana's Sun-stone magic. They were repeatedly attacked by various bandits and undead, but Helana felt guided by some unseen hand and she traded the precious Sun-stones for trophies from the enemies she defeated. In the end, she and Illith tricked the servants of the Archduke of that part of Hell into releasing her father, and just as the Archduke was about to cast a devastating spell to kill her, she brought Koborah and her winged dog Rorsa back to their plane. This caused the Archduke's spell to misfire, blasting his palace apart and killing him and most of his servants. Although Helana had succeeded in her mission, the dark influence of Gohrah, the goddess of the dark half of the Moon, had caused her to tap into much black magic during her journey. She had thus gone from a pure Sun worshipper into one that was half-dark, just like the Moon itself. She had to give up her priesthood and walk away from her father and her parish, although her father still loved her. At least she is joined on her trip by Rorsa, who also finding a stone that allows her to talk to Illith, who gladly offers her his services in the future.[1]
