Illith was a Demonic Tutor from Hell.

History

In c. 4100 AR, Illith was called to use his skills as a Demonic Tutor when he was suddenly pulled physically into the duel between Gerheart and his enemy. Although he completed his task, the Sun priest Koborah bound him with holy magic, rendering him unable to participate in the fight, to the annoyance of his summoner. Attempting to open a portal back to Hell, Illith was struck by a Fireball, which charred his flesh and instead pushed Koborah through the Hellgate, leaving Illith stranded on the unnamed plane of white, green, and blue mana. He started preparing for a longer ritual to return using carved bones and a pentagram when he was tracked down by the girl Helana and her flying dog Rorsa.[1]

Although Illith prepared to abuse the girl's magical power and naivety, he was surprised to notice that he was taken by the girl and treated her as honorably as a demon could. He offered to rescue her father, and together they traveled into Hell using one of Helana's Sun-stones. They were repeatedly attacked by various bandits and undead, but Helana appeared to be guided by some unseen divine hand - the goddess Gohrah, the dark side of the Moon. Helana traded the precious Sun-stones for trophies from the enemies she defeated, using them as charms for her darker spells. In the end, Illith and Helana tricked the servants of the Archduke of that part of Hell into releasing Helana's father, and just as the Archduke was about to cast a devastating spell to kill her, she teleported herself, her father, and her dog back to their plane, and the Archduke's spell misfired, blasting his palace apart and killing him and most of his servants. Illith was happy with this outcome, as he stood a much better chance at gaining his former power back in a new regime rather than under the old Archduke. Illith made sure that Helana found a communication crystal so that they could stay in touch in her future endeavors.[1]
