Druim Calad is the only major aboveground port in Shadowmoor. Its Lorwyn counterpart is called Crannog Ansicr.
Description
Built from the remains of another city that collapsed into a sinkhole long ago, the settlement is as difficult to navigate as it is dangerous to trade in. Ramshackle wooden structures droop near the sinkhole, while water from a nearby lake cascades down the sinkhole and into a cavern full of underwater dwellings.[1][2] A maze of homes and businesses that belong to kithkin, flamekin, and rimekin hangs precariously above the brackish waters, sometimes bending and swaying with the movements of currents.
The town is home to 300 residents, mostly merrow, though members of every other species from Shadowmoor can be found above the water in the settlement.[2] Merrow do most of their trading here, though the water is said to run red, since trade often goes awry.[1] Many claim to rule the city, notably including Myyn, the leader of the Finblade network of cutthroats. The Red Shallows, Myyn's tavern, lies just above the water. Amid the normal tables and chairs of a tavern, holes cut in the floor allow merrow to swim up to lounge and do business with other patrons.
