Norika Yamazaki is a human samurai member of the Imperials in Kamigawa. She is the eldest daughter of the Yamazaki clan.[1]

History

Thoughtful and introspective, Norika Yamazaki trained to be a scholar and a poet, but a brilliance for tactics propelled her rise through the ranks of the Imperials to become one of their brightest young generals. Most recently, she's been given the task of stamping out the Asari Uprisers, the increasingly popular rebel movement whose aim is to overthrow Imperial rule. It's a difficult task, and complicated even more by the fact that she'll be facing off against her cousin and former childhood best friend: Heiko Yamazaki.[2]

Neon Dynasty

When she was ten, an accident at the Eiganjo Castle merge gate with an Unforgiving One caused her to be permanently in pain. She was paralyzed for weeks afterwards and hospitalized for nine months, and only after receiving a neuroprosthesis was she able to control the pain. Nonetheless, she trained as a samurai at the Imperial academy and became an aide to the Imperial advisor Naomi soon after her graduation. At age eighteen, she became chief handler of the Eiganjo merge gate, a position she held for four years before becoming Commander of the Imperial garrison at Sokenzanshi. Known as the poet-warrior of the realm, she wears white armor edged with gold and a helmet resembling panels of origami that folds intricately over her face and sweeps back into twin fans.[1]
