Volpaig was a bishop of the Church of Avacyn, and secretly the leader of the Skirsdag Cult on the plane of Innistrad.
History
Volpaig was a crude-minded minor bishop in the Church of Avacyn, notable for his secret allegiance to the demon-worshipping Skirsdag Cult. His actions and affiliations paint a picture of a man deeply corrupted by dark influences. He was known for being a secretive and duplicitous individual who, in the turbulent times following the loss of Avacyn, began to openly embrace and promote the Skirsdag's pro-demon ideology.
Volpaig's personality was characterized by a ruthless pursuit of power and a willingness to betray his sacred duties for personal gain. His crude-minded nature suggests a lack of refinement and perhaps a brutish approach to both his religious and cult activities. Despite his minor status in the church, he leveraged the chaos in Gavony to expand his influence, drawing desperate and disillusioned citizens into the Skirsdag Cult with promises of power and stability amidst the encroaching darkness.
Volpaig's demise came at the hands of the planeswalker Liliana Vess, who sought information about the demon Griselbrand. When confronted by Liliana, Volpaig stubbornly refuses to divulge the demon's whereabouts, even under the threat of death. His loyalty to his dark master was unwavering, and he died protecting Griselbrand's secret. However, in his final moments, Volpaig inadvertently revealed a crucial piece of information: the only other person who knew Griselbrand's location was the deceased Lunarch Mikaeus Cecani.
Liliana used this information to her advantage, ultimately finding and reanimating Mikaeus to learn that Griselbrand was imprisoned within the Helvault.
