Recin was a Garan Elf living in the city of Berimish in Tamingazin, part of Otaria on the plane of Dominaria.

Description

Recin was tall for a Garan, almost as tall as the human woman Tallibeth Tarngold. He had eyes of a deep liquid golden brown color and his hair was a nest of brown curls. He was thin, and had the distinctive sharp-chinned face, pale skin, and wide eyes of a Garan.[1]

History

When Tagard Tarngold's army approached the city of Berimish to take over control of it, Recin happened to be on the wall. Like the rest of the city, he was knocked out by Aligarius Timni's sleep spell, but as a Garan, he was among the first to wake from it, after a few hours had passed. He was then forced to bring the invaders to the palace of Bey Lisolo, where Ursal Daleel let them inside. Tagard took the torc from the sleeping Lisolo, and thus claimed Berimish in a bloodless coup. Weeks later, Tagard's daughter Tallibeth Tarngold was given a mission to learn the city's layout, which she recruited Recin to help her with.[1]

After trying to chase down the killer of the king, Recin was falsely accused of being the killer himself and thrown into a dockside prison cell. He was there for a few days until the two envoys from the Institute of Arcane Study, Kitrin and Oesol, arrived in Berimish and were able to prove his innocence. Recin volunteered to go with Kitrin through the Great Marsh to retrieve the Magewall Hub from Suderbod, but while he was in the swamp, the city fell into the chaos of Karelon's coup. Rael Gar, who had aggressively pushed for Recin's execution, was killed, and the new gar, Samet, pronounced that Recin would receive the honor of the last name kan, as a young warrior. Captured by En'Jaga, Recin was brought to the Suderbod army, where he and Kitrin were put into a close encounter with Hemarch Solin. After some quick thinking by Kitrin, she managed to kill the Suderbod leader by using her tracking crystal as a throwing dagger. They were almost stopped by Ursal Daleel, but a recovering Aligarius managed to dazzle the ambassador, allowing the three of them to escape with the Magewall Hub. In the bayou, Ursal tracked them down, but Recin managed to kill both Ursal and his guard, leading the ambassador to feed the attalo. In the end, he returned to Tamingazin and was reunited with Tallibeth and his mother and aunt. He was even invited by Kitrin to join the Institute of Arcane Study, although that was presumably more for personal reasons rather than magical ones.[1]
