The Valley of Tamingazin is one of the most fertile lands on the Otaria continent of Dominaria. It is a home for humans, Viashino and Garan Elves.[1]
Description
The Valley of Tamingazin is surrounded by the Magewall, a magical barrier, which slackens any creature trying to cross it. This shield, created by mages at Institute of Arcane Study, was successful for centuries in keeping foreigners out of the rich lands of Tamingazin Valley. The Valley is bordered in the southwest by the River Nish and the Great Marsh, with Suderbod beyond. To the north lies Skollten, and the En'Jaga live to the west.[1]
History
The Valley of Tamingazin has long been a land of magic and conflict. After the Fall of the College of Lat-Nam, fleeing mages established the Institute of Arcane Study, a sanctuary for scholars and spellcasters. Centuries later, the Fall of the School of the Unseen brought more wizards to the valley, further cementing its reputation as a center of magical knowledge. The valley was shielded from external threats by the Magewall, a magical barrier that slowed invading forces to a crawl. While this protected the valley from the warlike Skollten to the north and the expansionist Suderbod to the south, it did not prevent internal strife. For generations, humans, Garan elves, and Viashino waged bitter wars for control of the valley’s fertile lands.
It was the human leader Tagard Tarngold who sought to unite the valley. Allying with the Garan elves, he turned to the rogue mage Aligarius Timni for aid in subduing the last independent Viashino city, Berimish. With Timni’s magic, Berimish fell without bloodshed, and for the first time, the valley was unified. The Betrayal of Tamingazin happened when he was assassinated, ending his hope for a peaceful resolution. His general, Karelon, seized power, blamed the Viashino, and launched a brutal war. In truth, Karelon had secretly allied with Suderbod, whose agents manipulated Aligarius Timni, convincing him to steal the Magewall Hub — the artifact maintaining the valley’s defenses. With the Magewall disabled, Suderbod launched a full-scale invasion, sending thousands of soldiers and monstrous En'Jaga into the valley.
As the valley teetered on the brink of destruction, Tagard’s daughter, Tallibeth Tarngold, led a desperate resistance, allying with the Viashino leader Lisolo and elven rebels. Together, they overthrew Karelon at great cost. Meanwhile, the exiled elf Recin and young mage Kitrin recovered the Magewall Hub with unexpected help from a remorseful Timni. In a final act of redemption, Timni restored the Magewall just as the invasion reached its peak, severing Suderbod’s forces and saving the valley. With Suderbod repelled, the Valley of Tamingazin emerged stronger. Under Tallibeth’s leadership, a new governing council was formed, representing all three peoples. The valley, once fractured by war and distrust, now stood as a united nation, shaped by its struggles but ready to forge a new future.[1]
