The Iwset-Jehesic War was an event during the Dark Age on Terisiare, Dominaria.[1]

Description

After Lord Peemel of Iwset grew ambitious enough to consider conquering all of western Terisiare, he proposed war upon the island state of Jehesic when its lady Edara refused his hand in marriage. To prevent a unified front composed of Jehesic, the elves of Eln Forest, and the minotaurs of Urhaalan Valley, Peemel ordered the blood witch Sacumon north to sow discord between the factions, pitting minotaurs and elves against each other. Sacumon tricked the Niroso, a young race of liquid stone-folk, to set their coal golems on the two neighboring peoples using guerilla tactics. [1]

Meanwhile, Peemel's advisor Digody schemed with Edara's advisor Ferantia to make the marriage happen. Edara refused, and when Ferantia tried magical coersion, Edara's secret lover and Peemel's other advisor Apepei, killed Ferantia. Jehesic responded by kidnapping Iwset's general-in-chief Ihesia and sinking Iwset's navy. Peemel then used stealth tactics to abduct Edara and bring her to the capital, but Digody assassinated Peemel before he could put his plans into effect. Apepei then killed Digody in turn, and suggested the heir to the city, Yunnie, the son of Peemel's deceased wife take the throne. Yunnie refused, smashing the sigil of the city and leaving Edara and Apepei to rule in his stead, with only a tenuous claim to Iwset, and with Ihesia and Inquisitor Offero scheming to depose them. Even so, the war was at an end, and the nations could start to rebuild. [1]

Timing

Although there is no direct date referenced in the source, there are indications it happened roughly in the middle of the Dark Age, c. 300 AR. Earlier events that also occurred during the Dark Age, such as the lifetime of Uncle Istvan and the formation of the City of Shadows have long passed, and the Brothers' War is a distant memory. This places the war some time into the period of the Dark Age rather than the beginning of it.

Conversely, later events like the death of Vervamon at the hands of the Church of Tal have not yet happened, and this indicates that the war takes place sometime before Tivadar comes into influence. Additionally, the west coast where the war takes place would freeze completely over and be covered by the Great Glacier come the Ice Age, and there is no indicator of this starting to happen yet. This places the Iwset-Jehesic War toward the middle rather than the later part of the Dark Age.
