Yunnie was a man from Shingol in the Dark Age of Terisiare, on the plane of Dominaria.[1]

Description

Yunnie was six feet tall, with strong hands, azure eyes, weathered bronzed skin, and a shock of long flaxen hair.[1]

History

Yunnie was the son of Vervamon and Lady Pioni, who was Lord Peemel's wife. Peemel, unaware of Pioni's affair and child, had his wife killed to gain her money for himself. The elf Tavora then brought Yunnie to Shingol, where he was adopted into a fisherman's family. Among them was Essa, ten years older than Yunnie, who would become his foster sister.[1]

After the leech fish abandoned the cooling waters outside Shingol, Yunnie left his village behind and lived first among the elves of the forest before moving into the mountains to live with the Urhaalan Valley minotaurs. He befriended Mytaru and eventually came to view him as a brother. Upon discovering the blood witch Sacumon treating with the Niroso and their destructive coal golems, Yunnie confronted her. She lied to him about her intentions, offering him the Living Armor that was located in the armory of the Niriso, and cast spells of Amnesia and Silence upon him, rendering him unable to remember and speak of the event[1]

Sacumon then orchestrated a war between the Urhaalan and the elves of Eln Forest, which Yunnie was helpless to prevent given the spells placed upon him, but the armor granted him great courage, strength, and protection, allowing the minotaurs to gain great advantage. As the spells started to wear off, though, he managed to confront Sacumon again, disrupting her plans and leading the elves of Eln Forest to fight back. A series of defeats causes Yunnie to be cast out from the herd, and he wanders hopelessly back to Shingol, where he attempts to jump from Merfolk Vista. Saved by Maeveen O'Donagh at the last second, he met up with Vervamon, Quopomma, and Coernn, and they traveled back to Urhaalan Valley. This time, Sacumon could not stand against the assault and was killed at the cost of Coernn's life.[1]

By this time, Yunnie's blood-brother Mytaru had awakened the giant statue of Tiyint, a legendary Urhaalan hero, who was wreaking havoc on the elves of Eln Forest, but a command gone awry caused Tiyint to turn on his makers. Yunnie had to discard the Living Armor, which had started fusing with his flesh, and Mytaru picked up the artifact and wore it in a challenge to Tiyint. The two fought to the death, Tiyint crushing Mytaru in its stone hands even as the artifact's magic caused the statue to deactivate. [1]

Finally learning of his legacy as the inheritor to the throne of Iwset, Yunnie, and Maeveen returned to Shingol and found the Sigil of Iwset underneath the floor of Yunnie's house. A proposal was made to marry Yunnie to Lady Edara of Jehesic to solidify the bond between the two small nations, but Yunnie refused, smashing the sigil and abandoning the city to its fate. Although he and Maeveen had developed feelings for each other, neither expressed their desire to the other, and they went their separate ways, not knowing what could have been. Yunnie, or Vervamon the Younger, then returned to the Urhaalan to rebuild and forge new bonds of friendship there.[1]
