The Fall of the Sarpadian Empires was an event that occurred during the Dark Age of Dominaria.

Description

Before their fall, the island continent of Sarpadia was ruled by several small empires, including Icatia, Vodalia, the dwarven empire of the Crimson Peaks, the Order of the Ebon Hand, and the elves of Havenwood.

Under Reod Dai's guidance, the once-disparate goblin and orc tribes of Sarpadia united into one massive horde. They soon threatened the Crimson Peaks Dwarven Empire with their numbers. Reod Dai's magic then inadvertently causes Havenwood's thallids, which the elves had cultivated as a food source, to gain sentience and slowly start to fight back against their masters. Reod Dai then incited a rebellion among the thrulls against their Ebon Hand masters.[1][2]

The orcish and goblin army was driven by colder winters to migrate out of their warrens and caves, finally invading and overthrowing the Dwarven Empire.[1][2] In a ritual sacrifice, Tymolin Loneglade was murdered by the zealot Oliver Farrel. Because of this, Tymolin's brother, the planeswalker Tev Loneglade went insane, assuming the identity of Tevesh Szat, the Doom of Fools, and urging the goblins and orcs to attack Icatia.[3][2]

Fleeing from the Homarids attacking Vodalia, Empress Galina was accidentally transported over 3000 years into the future. Vodalia then fell to the invading lobsterfolk, with Etlan Shiis becoming the new center of Merfolk culture on Dominaria.[4][2]

In the end, the thrull rebellion destroyed the Ebon Hand, the Havenwood elves were completely overrun by the thallid revolt, and Icatia was conquered by the invading goblin and orc hordes. The thrulls then swarmed over all of Sarpadia; with only some orc tribes and the Thallids surviving on land, with the homarids ruling the seas around the continent. The orcs were eventually also hunted down where they were sheltering in their caves and killed off, while the thallids and the thrulls, perhaps respecting their common origins, continued a peaceful coexistence.[5][2]
