Reki (REH-kee)[1], the History of Kamigawa, was a Human Shaman of Kamigawa during the time of the Kami War.
History
Reki was a monk who was one of the co-founders of the Living Historians alongside Azusa. He wanted to preserve the knowledge that was in danger of being lost amidst the chaos of their changing plane. Thus he would tattoo these stories onto his skin and bring them to life through dance, theater, and song further recording the History of Kamigawa. The tattoos magically rise into the air during the performances as moving illustrations of historical events. Although his training instructs him to erase any personal biases, some might argue that the very nature of their art means they inherently inject their perspectives into their work.[2] He was quoted as saying “Memories fade and wither with time. If we do not nurture the garden of history, we may once more wander blindly through barren lands.” In reference to Toshiro Umezawa he once stated that “Some called him the hero of the Kami War, others a selfish thief. As ever, the truth is hidden somewhere in between.”
